Lenneke will accept one or two students at a time in her studio. There are no set times for classes. She will offer classes at a time that is convenient for both the students and her. Prerequisite: None

In this class, students will learn how to cut out their pattern pieces. Then how to grind and fit them into place. Next, each piece will be wrapped with copper foil and burnished. Finally, students will flux and solder their patterns together. All pieces are then thoroughly cleaned up and polished. If desired, students may patina the finished piece with black or copper.

Syllabus

  • Choose one of the patterns provided
  • Cut out glass pieces
  • Grind and fit them into place
  • Wrap each piece with copper foil
  • Burnish the pieces
  • Flux and solder your ornament together
  • Clean up and polish  
  • Patina the finished piece black or copper if you wish

    Everything will be provided in the kit you buy when registering for the class, including glass, foil, solder, flux, cleaner, and the use of the tools.

    Please also bring with you:

    • Ultrafine black marker
    • Rubber gloves
    • Closed-toe shoes
    • Safety glasses
    • Any tools you have (please put your name on them)

Mosaics as decorative artwork has had a long history in many cultures. In this workshop, you can create beautiful and interesting mosaics for indoors and outside. It is an easy and fun way to express yourself, brighten up your garden or home, and they make great gifts too!

In this one day class you will learn the direct method of MOSAIC art. Other methods will be discussed so that you are able to decide what is the best method needed for in your mosaic art pieces. We will use glass pieces and you can bring old  jewelry, chain, small stones and other found items.

Materials purchased at registration will be distributed in class.

  • Choose a pattern to put on 10″ oval wooden disk
  • Apply glue to glass and fit pieces into place
  • Watch Lenneke’s demonstration for grouting
  • Learn about other methods that may be used
  • Decide on using grout or not

Supplies

Materials fee covers glass,
grout, glue, a wooden oval, and use of studio tools. All materials will
be handed out at the workshop.

Please also bring with you:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Safety glasses if you don’t wear glasses
  • Any glass working tools that you may have (please put your name on them)
  • You can also bring other items like jewelry or stones to add to the design
